Who doesn't like free stuff?
Freebies might get a bad name by not providing the same value and attractiveness that paid fonts do but I have personally handpicked the best free fonts from around the net that will make your designs look better than ever!
Now, I have collected a variety of different fonts that have their own style so it doesn't matter whether you specialize in modern or vintage designs, these will definitely give you an edge without spending a penny.
1) White NT
White NT is an absolute gem of a free font for designers.
Made by Artyom Levanov, who was generous enough to make this font available free for everyone to use.
The typeface is clean and modern with block like characters and tight kerning including punctuation and, in my personal opinion, awesome lowercase lettering which I like better than the Uppercase.

2) Roboto
Roboto is a Sans-serif font with tons of weight options. It is the go to font for simple typography. It is used in alerts, pop-ups, books and a lot of webpages. The reason being it's great legibility that provides the reader ease of readability which is key in any good typography design.

3) Helvetica
Sharing some of the qualities of the Roboto font, it's great legibility, Helvetica is a must have for all designers, heck, even I'm using Helvetica to write this blog!
The reason for Helvetica's popularity is probably how it incorporates the work flow of a number of fonts in just one sans serif font.
In my personal opinion, I love the Uppercase Letters far more than the lowercase, and seen Helvetica shine when it is scaled to a larger size in poster/flyer designs.

4) Effloresce
I have done a couple of design for luxurious hotels and this is my go to font for making those designs.
Effloresce is a great free font for adding a touch of luxury to your designs. The font has a very thin style (It does however have other weight options) with exaggerated serifs. It's tight kerning also adds a bit of emphasis on being better to be used as a header font as, by using it as a sub text, the tight kerning really reduces the legibility of the text making it look tangled and hard for the reader to understand.

5) Grand Hotel
Grand Hotel is a fun, handwritten script font. It's best use is, in my opinion, on invitations, branding and logo design. Its boldness attracts the viewers and can definitely give off an energetic vibe.
What I personally love about this font is that it's not too exaggerated with the curves and swooshes as most script fonts seem to be. Also the doesn't have any unusual shapes incorporated into it as the famous Buffalo Font which means it is easier for the reader to make sense of it, improving it's score on legibility.
